Sometimes Mexico likes to surprise me. My adventures here are coming to an end. [where have the 7 weeks gone?] Last Saturday we had our last planned excursion to a little pueblito on the outskirts of Merida. To be honest, it wasn't all that interesting when we got there we had been invited to witness and take part in a religious procession catholic figurines and mexican flags oh and illegal fireworks, classy.
Towards sunset though, everything changed. Rebekah and I discovered a structure from the abandoned and rustic old hacienda who's ruins reminded us of something straight out of the Chronicles of Narnia. Everyone had gone off to explore the more modern parts of the village but we were just completely taken aback by the beauty of it all. Marco Polo even came along for the adventure!
I like to think that Bekah and I are the only ones that know this place exists and that come sunset it can be so enchanting, but I highly doubt this is the case. We've decided though that if Disney ever calls us up to direct their next Chronicles of Narnia movie, we're filming it here.
