SUGAR RUSH.

I have the most creative friends.
This is great because creativity inspires me.
One of my best friends from high school, Brenda, has this hidden talent for decorating cakes.
She's never taken a class, never gone to school for it, this is raw talent at it's best.

She's starting a mini-business soon called Sugar Rush.
If anyone in the L.A./Long Beach area is looking for a cake for any ocassion, write me:

boredom buster.

Boring classes do not stop in high school. I still tend to drift off into outer space & write down to do lists in my planner when I've lost all my will power to concentrate. I'm not exactly taking any classes right now, but, yesterday I stumbled upon one of my boredom busters from Mexico.

I had class at 7 am in the morning M,W,TH, it was brutal. In order to keep ourselves awake, Rebekah & I would cast people in movies.
brilliant.
It was so great and I think I can say in full confidence that should Disney or Warner brothers ever need a casting director we are their go to gals.
When casting got old, we made this gem, a map of our Spanish class inspired my the Mean girls cafeteria map.

Don't ever let boredom get the best of you...

college-ruled notepaper

I always keep my school notebooks.
I never know if I'll have to go back and look back at my 10th grade chemistry notes, better safe than sorry, right?
Also, I never seem to completely use up my old notebooks, so whenever i need to scribble something down, they're perfect.
Case in point: remember my summer goal of cooking every sunday?
This Sunday I'm putting together cilantro lime pork chops, quinoa salad, and avocado mango salad. I needed a place to write down the ingredients needed, freshman year notebook to the rescue!

Praise? For the Time Traveler's Wife?

I love books; my mom loves books and so we came up with the brilliant idea of beginning our own book club. First stop on this express train, The Time Traveler's Wife. I had seen the movie and wasn't all that in love with it. The ending was horrible and it left me with so many, too many unanswered questions. Last summer the book was recommended to me by a friend who told me it would definitely beat the book and sometime in June I stated reading it.
I finished today as in on-my-way-home-on-the-plane. At first I couldn't make up my mind about whether or not I liked it the ending was too abrupt and almost worse than the movie. But I realized that if someone were to ask me which one I liked more I would have to say that I liked them for different things.

This post is about the book though. The language is beautiful and I was filled with the desire to jump on a plane to Michigan & Chicago just to see what Henry and Clare saw just to feel what they felt. The best part of this book was how much it made me ponder about time. This book twisted and played with my ideas of time. First off, it's not written in chapters but in dates sometimes with the characters being two different ages at once and they somehow play out in a weird chronological kind of way. I found myself wanting to spend more time with my eight year old brother my passion for journaling kindled with even more fire.
I loved the tragedy of their whole relationship and the perfectness of it even with Henry's tragic flaw. I dared to challenge all the concepts of time that have been presented to me before in science fiction movies, in classroom lectures, and in church. The fact that nothing could change because of someone's decision was kind of mind-blowing. It was stronger than fate but still had some free-will attached to it. I kept wanting to tell Henry, "next time you time travel, try this, do this differently."

That's the beauty of books though, you can't change them. Books are created I believe, 30% for a reader's entertainment, and %70 for an author's pure pleasure.
I have decided that I love the book and I wish I could pin-point each and every thing I loved about the book but that would ruin things for you. I do love the choices for the film's actors. Maybe it's because I had already seen the movie, but Rachel Mc Adams and Eric Bana were pretty close to what I had in mind for Henry & Clare and that's always satisfying.

welcome to the Islands.

I'm kind of a fan of hamburgers.
I've been trying to eat healthier this summer, you know more snacking, less scarfing. Hamburgers & french fries are the one food group I refuse to give up, they are essential to my being.
About a week ago I took a little trip via the blue line to downtown LBC♥ & visited Islands.
Utah needs to get one of these ASAP!
I went with Missy & Viri you know, for old times sake and was reminded of a similar trip we took circa 2008.
WARNING! High school reminiscing headed your way.

We are the champions.

My little brother Ezra had his first swim meet this weekend!
Ezra was really nervous but he did awesome, he swam against people twice his age and he swam his little heart out.
While at the swim meet, a bunch of Mom's from the dark side [aka the opposing team] mistook me for the team coach. WTHeck?
I was minding my own business telling Ezra about how a girl who had raced him had gotten disqualified when the girls mother began interrogating me as to why her daughter had gotten disqualified.
She later told her fellow darthmamas about how I was the team coach and out of no where, while I was watching another event, a lady stormed to me got in my face and started getting feisty.
"Did you see that? He's disqualified, look at that? You are the coach right? Right?"
Competition does crazy things to people.

Look out for him at the olympics sometime in the near future.

summer is for dreaming.

Most new year's resolutions are dead by April and for this reason I have a bit of a goal revival come June. Summer is a time for relaxation, a brief rest from reality and a period of 3 months to dedicate your whole being to accomplishing whatever it is you want.

This summer I WILL:
- Learn to mosturize properly ( as in put on lotion as SOON as I get out of the shower)
- Gain a tan to last me a fall & winter in Provo
- Go to DISNEYLAND!
- Run a 5k 3 times a week.
- FINISH the Time Traveler's Wife.
- Read The BOM 10 min. a night.
- Try to avoid playing catchup in my journal.
- Eat Healthy, BUT not completely sacrifice my love of frenchfries♥ & burgers.
- Cook Sunday Dinner whenever I'm home.
- Make 3 new friends.
- Better my piano skills by practicing whatever hymns were played at church the week before.
- Have a series of adventures on the Metrorail lines.
- Try 5 new dessert recipies. (suggestions?)

Whinning about Wine.

Almost every time I've written in my journal since school let out in April, I've mentioned something about my living arrangements next year. I'm excited like a million yellow-peanut-m&ms kind of excited. Junior year was probably my favorite year of high school & as they say, history repeats itself.

This school year I'm living with 3 of my closest friends at BYU, Darrian Watts, Tiffany Wallace, & Jenny Hanson. Two out of the three of us are in the same major & enrolled in classes together (study parties anyone) & Jenny is maybe even considering coming over to the best major known to mankind, not that I'm biast or anything.

I've kind of let my mind wander during this summer vacation because I am equally excited to decorate our cute condo. Yes, condo, as in Fernwood Condos condo. I'm a college student on a budget, (that's a cliche if I ever heard one) and so i've been takin' to the worldwideweb to find some killer DIY projects. I'm kind of crazy over this wine cork bath mat I found, I think it would look fabulous in my future restroom. Except, there's only one problem, I don't exactly drink wine, in fact, I don't really know any one who drinks wine. I'm considering buying wine corks on eBay or hoping that by some miracle Michaels or JoAnns has a pack of wine corks to sell. Have no fear though, because where there's a will, there's a way!
