what better way to spend a day off than to visit the beach? & because I had spent eight months in the winter of Provo, my skin soaked up all the sunshine it could get. I'm almost back to my normal skin tone. This beach trip was such a tease. I will be making frequent beach trips all summer long.
hope your memorial day was just as sunny!

8 things I learned while exploring NYC. Vol. 5
1. Fat Witch makes the BEST brownies I have ever had and they design a pretty great poster too...
2. No matter what direction you choose, Chelsea Market is full of delicious options.
3. I still don't understand the obsession with "Keep Calm & Carry On" posters...
4. Sometimes 30 Rock likes to get a little patriotic.
5. TIME perfectly understands my generation.
6. Thai food is great. But just like anything else, I only like it spicy.
7. Sometimes I'm lucky and win front row tickets to Wicked on broadway.
8. Always take a chance when it involves a great show and great seats.

Just when you thought drive-ins were cool...
Friday night we watched Top Gun on the USS Intrepid.
An outdoor movie experience on a boat.
(how fun does that sound?)
Perfect way to start off Memorial day weekend.
It's starting to get really warm here in NYC so the nice breeze was greatly appreciated.
It was my first time seeing Top Gun from start to finish & can I just say, it made me want to learn to fly a plane right then and there!
p.s. I love America.

& then i met my idol.
Meg Cabot.
Author of the Princess Diaries (which I actually haven't read)...
My favorite is the Mediator series!
Did you know they're making it into a movie?
Meg said they have an actress already; I can hardly wait.

8 things I learned while exploring NYC. Vol. 4
1. Brooklyn subways stops are just a tad bit dirty.
2. Papa was right, studying maps and freeway systems paid off. I have a keen sense of direction.
3. Thin crust, Italian pizza is king in New York.
4. Skylines make everything more magical.
5. "It's the pregnancy" works for everything. Michelle (center) is expecting!
6. Dogs are just as big of fans of elotes as humans are.
7. It's always a jolly holiday with Mary.
8. As if you needed any more reasons to love etsy, they have free craft nights! :]
( i know i already listed my 8. But I just really love this picture of Tori. Doesn't she look gorgeous?)

Hello Brooklyn, how you doin'?
Snaps to you if you know where the post title comes from.
I'm not big into tourist attractions. I see no point. I refuse to pay $21 to go to the top of the empire state building or $36 to go into a museum to see wax figures of celebrities.I like doing things a local would, they always know what's cooler anyways. I think you only truly get to experience a city if you pretend you live there. Tourist attractions, they're all façades; That's not what life is like in those cities. Traveling is so much more fun when you just explore.
On Saturday, we opted out a trip to the statue of liberty to instead venture to the Brooklyn Flea market. Best decision ever. It was such a low key venue and I'm pretty sure I left my heart nestled somewhere in the earth there. I love flea markets (they're known as swap meets back home). My dad used to take me every Saturday morning when I was in elementary school and I would stock up on Mexican candy. The trip on Saturday reminded Angela (she's from the OC) and I so much of home. I feel like flea markets have such a Cali vibe.
My favorite part of flea markets are the food! I had vegetarian dumplings, an AMAZING Asian hot dog, and half of a waffle peanut butter ice cream cookie. I have been inspired for the week.

¿Alguien dijo...
McDonalds?
I feel like liking McDonalds isn't the cool thing these days. Sometimes McDonalds lovers are shunned? (Or is that just something that goes down in Provo? ) I am not ashamed. I LOVE McDonalds. elle oh vee ee. & yes I'm in NYC and there are a ton of awesome places to try, but sometimes a girl just wants her #1 Big Mac with fries and nothing else.
My name is Lauren Marie Flores, and I'm a Big Mac fan.

Lo.
